Responding to Suspicions Or Allegations
THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY.
It is not an individual’s responsibility to decide if a child is being abused. However, it is their responsibility to ensure that concerns are voiced through contact with the Welfare Officer, Club officer, coach (if not named in the concern) and other appropriate authorities. Make a detailed written record of what you have witnessed and pass it on immediately. The welfare of the child should always remain paramount. The club will support anyone who reports, in good faith, their concerns that a child is at risk or being abused.
Where there is a compliant against a member of staff/volunteer there may be three types of investigation:-
- A criminal investigation
- A child protection investigation
- A disciplinary or misconduct investigation
