FIRE ALARM

Recently, we have experienced two fire alarms during our Monday evening training. Following some confusion during the first of these incidents WASC representatives met the pool management and the evacuation procedures have been improved and information relayed to WASC.

One improvement is the protection of the activation pushes, so the alarm cannot be activated accidentally by leaning on the button, which means the alarm on Monday 30th March, was a deliberate act of vandalism. The pool management and fire service are concerned about this vandalism and have suggested a call out fee may be charged for future incidents. If any member of WASC is found to have deliberately activated the alarm in a non-emergency situation, the committee will be forced to take action, including charging the member or their guardian, for any costs incurred.

We have a very long and very good working relationship with the pool staff and do not wish anyone’s actions to affect our use of the facility.    Craig Brown, Vice Chairman

BAGS

Please remember bags must not be left unattended at Wellingborough except on poolside, where they should be put on the benches around the pool, not on the floor.

Lockers are available if you do not want to carry your bag around with you.

WASC are not the only people to be using the centre; please give consideration to others – don’t leave your belongings lying around.

DO YOU HAVE A SPARE MOMENT?

There are three small clerical jobs which are useful to swimmers and coaches, but the person doing them no longer has time.  If you can use Excel and have a little time to spare, we are looking for someone to put some times into an Excel spreadsheet; mark up the swimmers who have swum at each gala; and once every 12 weeks, take in the application forms for the land training, listing  the names and telephone numbers.  If you would be willing to take on any of these three tasks, please speak Sandra for more information.  Talking does not commit you to doing !

SHOES

Please remember you are not allowed on poolside with outdoor shoes on.  If you need to go onto the poolside you must take your shoes off or change to poolside shoes please.

The fire alarm that we experienced at Daventry showed just how many swimmers do not have poolside shoes at galas and so were standing about outside without shoes.  Poolside shoes at galas protect your feet against problems like verrucas, keep your leg muscles warm and if you do have to evacuate the building, save you walking down the street or across the car park in bare feet.

CHAMPIONSHIPS

Please help us keep costs down by supporting the raffle either with a prize to the Club Room before the night, and/or by purchasing raffle tickets at the door.   Thank you
