ASA Competitive Performance Awards
The ASA has a set of competitive award standards and badges for swimmers to work towards regardless of age. The required times for these awards are in the table below.
The awards are split into Sprint (25m,50m and 100m); Middle Distance (200m) and Distance (400m plus).
The idea is to get the circular round badges for Sprint, Middle Distance and Distance in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum and have each of the strokes under the badge. The round badges are for display purposes and the strips are earned according to the time. You only need to get one sprint time. E.g. If you get the time in 25m Free, then you get the badge and once you get it in 50m free you don’t get any further badges for the Sprint.
If you achieve a qualifying time at any of the organised events, you can make a claim for the appropriate badge. You just need to know the event date, stroke, distance and of course the time achieved. This will be verified by the staff on the desk and then you can buy the badges or flashes to sew onto your WASC club polo shirt.
When & where do I get these badges & Flashes
The Badge desk is now open on the Monday, one week after dash nights - between 6.30 pm & 8.15 pm
Awards and flashes can be purchased on this night, but to help the organisers, awards should be pre-ordered for collection and payment on the night. To have your order ready for collection, order forms are available from the Goggle Shop or you can download a copy here. Leave your completed order at the Goggle Shop (no money please) any Monday night.
Use your mouse pointer to point to the badge you need, a small popup will tell you what event and how fast you need to swim to get that badge. This doesnt work on touch screen devices without a mouse pointer, so you will still need to refer to the table at the bottom.
