Wilkinson Sword Trophy Gala - 30th January
Our Junior Team had an eventful evening in the first County gala of the year. Records tumbled and PBs were broken as we regained the runners-up trophy from Kettering.
A fine team effort produced 18 PBs from 24 individual swims without a single DQ or 6th place finish.
Individual mention should go to S. Brown who notched up our only win of the evening in the 9 year old Boys 50m Backstroke, he also took 2nd place in 50m Freestyle.
We had eleven 2nd place finishes overall, including the Boys 11yr Relay Team (M. Spencer, H. Fox, G. Whitehouse, S. Blackett) who also broke Club records for both 4 x 25 Freestyle and 4 x 25 Medley Relays. These Club Under 12 records had stood since 2005 and 2007 respectively.
There were also 2 second place finishes for our 9 year old Boys relay team in both 4 x 25 Freestyle and 4 x 25 Medley events (S. Brown, R. Balderson, M. McNicholas & M. Richmond). The 10 yr old Boys Medley Relay Team also claimed 2nd place (T. Arthurs, F. Goodman, M. Richmond & A. Woodruff).
Especially busy were M. Richmond (9 & 10 yr old Boys) and E. Evans (10 & 11 year old Girls) who had 5 swims each and incredibly broke their own PBs twice as they both swam 50m Butterfly in two age groups. Both swimmers claimed 2nd place in their own age group.
Other individual 2nd places went to H. Odams, M. Spencer, and T. Arthurs.
